Russian Troops Begin Belarus Deployment.
The first of 9,000 Russian troops have arrived in Belarus. Minsk and Moscow say they're setting up a joint unit to defend the borders of Belarus. Its leader Alexander Lukashenko claims his country faces threats from neighboring Ukraine and its western allies. Ukraine accuses Moscow of trying to draw Belarus into the war.

Japan Intervenes Heavily in JGB and Yen Foreign Exchange Markets.
The BOJ also conducted emergency bond buying-operations on Thursday and intervened in the foreign exchange market on Friday to buy the yen in hopes of putting a floor on the yen as it hit a 32-year low against the dollar.
